A home wine tasting party is a good way to get to know various wines that are available. You can also make these informal occasions great events in which you can have friends over and find out what they think about these wines. As there are so many different types of wines for you to choose from you will want to make your selections carefully.
As a home wine tasting party is informal in nature you should decide exactly what are the different foods that you will be serving to keep the party from disintegrating into a drinking party. As this home wine tasting party is to learn about the various wines that can be used for various meals and other occasions you should make sure that your guests are not overwhelmed with a lot of wines.
And since you primarily want a home wine tasting party to expand the knowledge of the wines and it’s always a good idea if everyone’s relaxed, you might want to let everyone mingle as they drink the wine. This way you can talk with amongst yourselves and gain an idea of what everyone thinks about the wines that have been offered. The best way to ensure that all the wines are tasted in your home wine tasting party will be to keep the wines in an easy to reach place.
A home wine tasting party is perhaps the best place for you and your friends to learn more about great wines. To ensure that everyone can enjoy themselves you should select about five or six different wines. These wines should be different brands and you should absolutely have some red wines and white wines. In addition you can choose to introduce a sweet wine or two for pairing with the dessert.
To make your home wine tasting party a success you will need to choose the wines and the atmosphere carefully. For instance if you have a garden and the day is sunny lay out a table and load some delicious French cheese and other finger foods that your guests can enjoy. Besides these finger foods, you should have a buffet style meal so that your guests can eat as they mingle and taste the wines.
You should also remember to have some forms on hand for those of your guests who might want to take down any notes on the wines that they taste. This is also a good practice to learn for the more formal wine tasting events that you or your guests might attend later.
There’s only now, one other thing that you need to top off a perfect home wine tasting party and that’s a relaxed evening at home with nothing more to think about than when you can do this all over again!

Event Tasting Wines
Many of you have gone to a place where wine is served and you have no idea of the type of wine that is being served. There are still other times when you have been to a function and you have just drunk a great event tasting wine without knowing its name. This can be a bother especially if you like the taste of good event tasting wines.
While this fact may continue to trouble you, there are ways to get over this situation. For instance you will most definitely have noticed the color of the event tasting wine. Since most wines are red or white knowing the color can eliminate a lot of the guesswork. When you have selected the color of your new wine the next part is to identify the taste. It is probably at this point that you are saying, how can I say what it tastes like?
There is no need to panic at this question. What you need to do is to know if the wine tasted sweet or dry. Depending on this answer your event tasting wine range has become smaller. Since the sweet wines can be sugary sweet or just simply sweet you should be able to say if your event tasting wine had this type of sweet taste or did it leave your mouth feeling dry.
When you have made the choice for this part of the form tasting wine you can further narrow your search field. This is simply by remembering the time that you had the wine and how it looked. You can say if the wine had a bubbly type of taste or was it very sweet and complemented your dessert. These traits indicate if you had a sparkling wine – hence the bubbly appearance and taste – or a dessert wine as most times this wine will have been given just as you were being served your dessert.
All of this information will help you to see the wines that you can try. There should be one from among this entire selection of wines that match your event tasting wine and you will not have to search through hundreds of wines. The color, the taste and the time that you had the wine will let you see the choices that are left in certain wine types. Hopefully at the end of this event tasting wine selection process you will be able to decide which wine you should see about tasting first.
This could be the only way that you can identify that great wine that you were privileged to drink at the wine tasting you went to. You can also hope that sometime in the near future you can ask your host what the various event wines were that they served that day. This is perhaps the better option or you can just leave it in the hands of fate and drink your way through the many event tasting wine selections that come your way.

Dry Wine
Wines are for many people an acquired taste, while you may not like how a wine tastes the very first time that you drink it this can change as time passes. Wines can generally be classed into two groups. You have the dry wine and the sweet wine. These wines can be found in two colors – red and white wine. However the wine taste is very different in both of these wines.
To appreciate a good dry wine you should take the task of selecting this dry wine with some care. For the initial experiment in your education of dry wine and sweet wine you will need to select a quality wine from your super market. You can find quite a good selection of table wines on the shelves of many supermarkets. The best way to make this selection is to choose a brand of dry wine from known brands.
As you know the quality of wine from these brands to be excellent although not very expensive you can be sure that for your first venture into dry wine tasting will be good. You should be prepared for the possibility that you may not like the taste of your dry wine. This should not deter you from trying another dry wine and comparing the two.
While you are conducting this experiment you will need to have some type of food nearby as you can become immune to the smell and taste of the different dry wines. In addition to becoming used to the smell and taste, there is a possibility that you can become drunk on wines. For this reason you may want to have your dry wine with some food.
At this point there are probably some wine aficionados who are objecting to this way of enjoying wine, but since you need a sober head to appreciate the dry wine it is best to start with a small glass of dry wine and some good food to absorb the alcohol effects of the wine. Other types of food that you can use are dry crackers and cheese. These foods have the ability to clear your mouth of the taste and they give your stomach a lining of food.
Once you have experimented for some time you can change the level of dryness in the dry wine that you have. This changing will broaden your wine horizons and let you enjoy the smooth taste of various wines. At this time you should also see about drinking other varieties of dry wines, otherwise you will miss out a fantastic opportunity for tasting the various wines that are available for your pleasure.

While French cheese is recommended it is not strictly needed. There are some people who will recommend that you try Chardonnay with Baked Brie, Riesling with Gouda and Gewürztraminer with Swiss cheese. These are cheese tasting wine combinations that you can try out for your self.
To choose cheese tasting wine for red wines the process is similar. You should first choose your red wines. These will include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chianti and Zinfandel. Having selected the necessary red wines for your cheese tasting wine experiment you must start looking for cheese types that will go with your wine selection. Once you have selected and chosen your red wines and the cheeses that you feel will go well with these the next step is to pair them. The Chianti combine the Gruyere cheese, the Blue Cheese goes well with Cabernet Sauvignon, and the Zinfandel will taste excellent with the Muenster.
As you see there are many cheese tasting wines that you can choose. The only thing that you should see about is selecting the cheese so that it complements the wine. Boxed Wines For Your Pleasure
There are many of us who savor drinking wine. For the uninitiated wine can taste great or it can taste horrible. There are many wine varieties that you can try and see if you like. For many of us buying expensive wine is something that we do for very special occasions. Nowadays you can buy box wine that is good quality and delicious. These box wines are also not that expensive.
So for the person who wants to broaden their wine drinking horizon, it may be an idea to buy a known brand of box wine and see how you like the wine taste. This is the best way to begin your wine education so that you have a chance to start knowing the various wines. You should note what the brand or wine type is so that you won’t buy that box wine again – at least until your wine palette has developed.
Once you have tasted the wine from your first choice you will be able to decide if you would like to taste a dry wine or a sweet wine. While these are questions that can baffle you, there are wine tasting books and wine guides that can help you out in this regard. When you have a little bit of knowledge you might want to try something entirely different with your next box wine choice.
For instance if you have tried a white wine see how a red wine will taste. As these are two different wines they will have different types of tastes. For those of you who would like to try champagnes there are a few varieties that can be found as a box wine. This type of wine is somewhat more expensive than your usual box wines but it is a good way to start understanding the many tastes that can be found in wines.
Now if you would like to know more about the various wines and the differences that can be found, you can search for the information on the internet and in libraries as well as bookstores. While this method will not allow you to experience the pleasures that can be felt with a great tasting wine sliding down your throat, it will introduce you to the many box wine types.
Therefore you should try and broaden your knowledge of these box wines before you venture into evaluating another wine. The main thing to remember with box wine is that you have so many to choose from that you may be lost in the beginning. The best thing that you can do therefore is to take your time and let the wine slide smoothly down your throat – savor the pleasure.

Are Wine Of The Month Burdonsome
Are wine of the month clubs as burdensome as some of the other like gifts you give all the year through by giving, initially, just once? You may have had the delightful opportunity to see the TV series “Everybody Loves Raymond,” or maybe you at least got a chance to catch the episode where Ray’s parents express their disappointment in getting a gift from Ray and Deborah from the fruit-of-the-month club: Marie harps on the massive amounts of pears she and Frank have to endure, yak, yak, yak, complain, complain. It is a pretty funny statement about the casual attitude toward gift-giving and also speaks to more creative club gifts—those you still do not have to get too involved in or spend too much money on (unless you choose to) but can still offer a more clever or at least seemingly thoughtful gift.
Think about the wine of the month clubs, again, for instance. You can give a gift that is perpetual (for a year, or half a year, at least)…and you do not have to remember a particular day to keep consistent. You can give the gift(s) that friends, colleagues, and loved ones like…without having to do a ton of research and without having to have the wine knowledge of a sommelier. That is the wine of the month clubs that automatically send the recipient the new wine of the month remove your need to know what you are choosing and sending if you have no wine background. And in the same respect, some of the wine of the month clubs allow you to choose the particular wine that goes out each month, if you do know and if it does matter to you the exact type, color, and bouquet and all. Two of my friends, for instance, live together but prefer very different whites. One loves the pinot grigio line and the other a good, moderately-priced sauvignon. So I can go with one of the wine of the month clubs that sned out one white and one red each month, or I can choose the exact vintner, flavor, etc. to be sent.
Likewise, some wine of the month clubs tap the sources of the world, to get you the perfect regional or rare/hard-to-find selections. Others have a hierarchical system/method for shipping out wines—so you can start at the value pack level, or go into the premium ranges, or go all out and try the “signature” lines.
And, by the way, this is a great score for yourself, if you don’t wish to gift the wines but prefer trying varieties from all of the wine regions of the world yourself.

Wine of the Month Club
Wine of the Month Club
Our friends introduced us to the idea of wine of the month clubs a few years ago, and we are so glad they did. Initially, we joine3d the same international wine of the month club that they belonged to. I have, for the most part enjoyed my entire wine of the month club experience. I have managed to get more benefit out of a California wine of the month club than I did out of the international one which I initially joined. You see, the wine of the month club gave us wine from all over the world, which was definitely a good thing, but there was a down side to it. There are some varieties of wine which I simply do not like. If I get one of these from my wine of the month club, then I will not be able to drink it, and it will either go to waist, or I will have to trade it to a friend, or give it as a present. I do like giving people presents, but the idea of giving someone a wine that I only want to give away because I got it from the wine of the month club and don't want it strikes me as a little tacky I guess.
That is why I joined a good local California wine of the month club. This may sound strange to say, but since moving to good old California, I have never tasted a local wine which I did not like. Now that I think about it, the same goes for local beer. It is strange to be partial to a particular region, since the grapes that grow there can't really be that different from those that grow anywhere else, but I really do love California wine. My California wine of the month club allows me to indulge that taste. Best of all, that means that when I give away a wine that I got from my wine of the month club, I am not giving it away because I do not like it, but simply because I think that someone else will. Of course, there are so many people who can barely tell the difference between one kind of wine and another, that a wine of the month club is clearly not for everyone. If all you want is to occasionally have a good bottle, you really do not need the expense.
